Invoice Ninja understands that automatic transaction imports are a huge asset when it comes to your business, getting paid, and staying organized. Invoice Ninja has now partnered with Yodlee, a specialist provider of secure bank data connections, we now offer the ability to automatically import your bank transaction data.
How does Invoice Ninja see my bank data?
Invoice Ninja does NOT access your bank directly to import transactions. Instead, we use a secure third-party bank data integrator Yodlee.
Yodlee is a market leader in financial data aggregation.
What does that mean?
When you connect your bank account to import transactions into Invoice Ninja, Yodlee makes the connection to your bank with a “read-only” connection for importing your transaction data. Invoice Ninja or Yodlee cannot make payments or move money in your accounts what-so-ever.

With the Invoice Ninja + Yodlee integration you can automatically import expenses & transactions from your bank accounts, credit cards, and PayPal.
When you set up a Yodlee bank feed in your Invoice Ninja account, you provide your online banking username and password details, which Yodlee stores in a highly secure system. Yodlee then uses these details to log into online banking on your behalf to retrieve your bank transactions that have been cleared and processed, then imports these into Invoice Ninja.
Invoice Ninja does NOT store or use your online banking username and password details in any capacity.
Importing transactions
Some banks and financial institutions require multi-factor authentication (2FA) in order to access their website. This requires additional verification on top of your login details, such as a security question, image or token.
If your bank or financial institution doesn’t require multi-factor authentication, Yodlee accesses your online banking site overnight, downloading any new statement data and sending it securely into Invoice Ninja.
If your bank or financial institution does require multi-factor authentication, you need to manually “Refresh Accounts” to get the most recent transactions into Invoice Ninja.
Missing transactions
Yodlee only imports processed and cleared transactions. When your feed is refreshed, any available transactions that have been cleared by your bank will be imported into Invoice Ninja. If no transactions have been processed you may notice some missing dates/transactions.
Because of how Yodlee feeds work, transactions can sometimes be missed due to the timing of when the bank changes a transaction from pending to cleared and processed.
